Compliance Checklist for Importing from China

Step 1: Determine Requirements

• Assign HS code for product and identify regulations by destination
• Collect required standards and certifications (CE/FCC/ROHS/G-Mark/SASO/REACH…)
• Check category-specific restrictions (electrical safety/chemicals/food/toys)

Step 2: Prove Compliance

• Testing at accredited laboratories (ILAC/IECEE)
• Technical file: Test reports, user manual, photos and labels, conformity statement
• Review document translation for market language and dates and certificate validity

Step 3: Before Shipping

• Production inspection and PSI, packaging and labeling adjustment, customs documents
• Label matching (codes, warnings, country of origin, batch number)
• Appropriate insurance for product liability according to Incoterms

Step 4: After Arrival

• Record keeping, voluntary recall plan when necessary, complaint monitoring
• Random market testing for first batches to build confidence

• If product is electrical: Check EMC/LVD/safety + CE marking or market alternatives
• If contacts food/humans: Check relevant FDA/REACH/SASO regulations
• If destined for Gulf: Saber platform/G-Mark according to category and report versions
• If toy/children: EN71/CPSIA and labeling and warning requirements
• If medical/health product: Check device or cosmetic licenses
• If without documents: Don't ship. Request tests, reports, and design review
